1975 LOT OF 2 Vintage SARI STAGGS Art Pottery Vases EARLY WORK Ikebana Flower
VINTAGE SIGNED SARI STAGGS EARLY ART POTTERY VASE WITH BONUS VASE SARI STAGGS? Here's a vintage SIGNED art pottery vase created by Sari Staggs b. 1941 with a BONUS art pottery vase Sari Staggs? And she had stated that they were created by Sari Staggs (only one has a legible signature). Before Sari Staggs began painting and creating art prints of Native Americans she had dabbled in creating art pottery (probably while attending El Camino College or UCLA). Both of them are thick walled and quite heavy in weight.
This vintage LOT OF 2 art pottery vases consists of the following. Ovoid form, greyish green mottled glaze, dark brown glaze and vertical lines at the top neck area, 11 1/2" high, 6 1/2" round at widest point, 3 5/8" round at the bottom, 2" round at the top lip, weighs 6 lbs. Signed "SARI STAGGS" and "4-2-75" at the bottom (see photo). Bulbous form, lite grey glaze at top half, unglazed at neck, mottled greenish grey glaze and sgraffito at lower half, 12" high, 9 1/2" round at widest point, 3 3/4" round at bottom, 2 3/4" round at top lip, weighs 12 lbs.
No legible signature at the bottom see photo... Appears to be signed by Sari Staggs at the center or upper left area but very hard to read. Both of these vintage art pottery vases appear to be created by the same hand and they display nicely together. Both of these vintage art pottery vases are in good condition for being about 47 years old.
The ovoid vase has a 1/2" x 3/4" pottery kiln inclusion on the side from the firing process. The bulbous vase has a few small glaze scuffs on the top lip edge not affecting the clay body. Please see photos for condition.
